“ Know this. The food is beyond delicious. You certainly are getting food made by professionals. The service was spot on. Didn't have to wait to long for anything. The offer Fiji water...?! Idk anyone else that's doing that. We had a private room, so I can't really speak to eating in the dining room but the times I was out there. The vibe was good, people just enjoying the fine dining. 801 was great. I am merely just a peasant who was blessed with an excellent dinner. 10/10 I would go again. Maybe if I uhhh... make a million dollars in business or somethin I'll come back to celebrate. Haha ”
“ Went to Clayton Restaurant week for the second year in a row and it was fabulous! We sat at the bar and ordered a drink since we were extremely early for our reservation. The espresso martini was huge, they do not skimp on the alcohol! My friend and I both had the 6oz filet medium and they were cooked to perfection and so tender. Parking is the only downfall. I spent what felt like forever looking for a spot and luckily found one in a random lot ”
“ We have dined at 81 Chophouse many times. Generally consistent on their food and drink offerings. Atmosphere is comfortable, you're surrounded by wood and leather. This is what you would perceive a high end steakhouse to look like. It doesn't disappoint. I started with a Caesar salad then ordered the pork chop. It was cooked to my liking. Had the roasted potatoes and brussel sprouts as a side. My husband got the sliders. The dinner was delicious! We ate at the bar. The bartenders/servers are good drink preparers but lack personality. That's the only negative. A shout out to Marcia, who has been our server in the past is exceptional, great personality, great smile and engaging. ”
“ Brett was a great waiter. Made my wife and I well cared for. Ambiance was intimate and awesome. ”
“ My business partner and I were here to celebrate a new acquisition, and found Chophouse to be the best steakhouse in St Louis that was open that day. Before we got inside, I was immediately impressed with the design of the exterior, followed by continuity of my impression with how well the inside was decorated, and the fengshui. The maitre'd was incredibly warm, and quickly brought us to an available table, and the servers were very quick to come and bring us some delicious bread. My partner and I had quite the appetite, so we each ordered a 16 oz ribeye, then got broccolini, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, beer battered onion rings, and each got a bowl of lobster bisque. For those who have been here, just as an FYI, this is enough for two meals if not three each and I did not realize the portions were going to be as large as they were. First came the lobster bisque, which I may recommend instead of bowl you get a cup, as this portion itself could be a meal. It was an absolutely exquisite dish, and incredibly well made and poured (perfect mix of flavors). Next on to the main entree (the ribeye) which it was my mistake not following the reviews and getting the steak rare. I got the medium rare, and it was a bit chewier than expected which most people have written in their reviews, and almost a well done. The portion definitely felt like it was closer to a 22 oz, so maybe I got someone else's order (in that case, it was perfect, but, I don't want to hide any details, so I will remove one one star. The garlic mashed potatoes were perfectly fluffy, and garlic (and if I may add, mashed), the broccolini was tender and a got palat cleanser for each bite of steak, and the onion rings (my first time ordering at a steak house) were quite a bit of fun, and were exactly as onion rings should be. The price of the meal, given the portions we ordered, was on par, and as I mentioned above, we will be back! Thank you the chef, and the servers, and the owner, for the experience! ”
“ My boyfriend and I went here tonight to celebrate my boyfriend birthday. We got both oysters and bone marrow for appetizer. For our drinks, we got 1 bottle of heritage blend wine. From our entrees, we got the New York strip and ribeye, both cooked medium rare. Tip for our next visit: will ask for light on the salt for our steaks. It was cooked perfectly. We also ordered spinach and loaded potato sides. For dessert, we got the carrot cake. We definitely over order for the two of us. The service was great. Everything came out fast and efficient. It was a great experience overall. ”
“ Friend gave me a gift card for my birthday so I came to try. The steak was so good, they have many options to choose from and detailed menu. I love the tartare, the bone marrow and little greasy and oily so I don't recommend buy everything else was very good!!!!!! Service is great, parking is available on the side of the street or paid parking garage ”
“ Overall: checks all the boxes for flavors and elegance. Not sure it's quite worth the price point. Food: 4/5 Rib eye was cooked a perfect medium rare. However the cut itself was a lot chewier and fibrous than I expected. Foie gras was tender and flavorful. Broccolini was a perfect al dente and not overly wilted. Lobster Mac and cheese missed a bit on deep cheesy notes and the lobster itself wasn't that prominent in the dish either. Service: 5/5 Super quick and responsive. We had our every need met. Ambiance: 5/5 Unique and interesting art on the walls. Well cared for tables and cutlery. A nice and welcoming warm glow that envelopes you as you dine. ”
“ Tried: Prime Rib, Brussel Sprouts, Fries, Lobster Mac and Cheese, New York Strip Loved: We came for a special occasion and they wrote a personal congratulations on our menus. Very nice touch. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and definitely feels like an upscale steakhouse. We also enjoyed the steak presentation to see all the options. The service is special with this and the attention to detail. The lobster mac and cheese was fantastic and had lots of lobster in it. Liked: The lobster bisque - I really enjoy lobster bisque at every place I try, and this did not stand out to me at all. The prime rib. It was fattier and not as flavorful as others I've had. The New York Strip. It was good, but my husband ranks these among St. Louis and this was in the middle of the pack. Disliked: Parking can be difficult. If you don't do valet, you have to drive around to find a parking garage or street parking further away. ”
“ Second time at 801 chop and it definitely was a good experience. This is my friends favorite spot and she loves coming here. She wanted to celebrate her birthday so we happily obliged. I will say parking is not easy. Since I've only been here twice now, I don't think I fully understood the situation. There is very little parking and I drove around trying to find parking for some time. They do offer valet, but I had no cash (lesson learned for next time). I finally figured out I could park in the ritz garage- so definitely recommend that. It's a paid garage, but it's a spot. If it's a busy eve, you won't find many other options. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. The ambiance here is nice and cozy and fits in with the elevated vibe. It feels special! I ordered a martini and my friends ordered wine. The martini was delicious and had its own unique spin on it. We got an array of food to eat and split including: - petite shellfish platter: I'm not a huge fish gal, this was more for my friends. I had a couple pieces and it was super fresh! - chophouse salad: I loved this salad! The dressing is so light and a great combo of flavors. - garlic mashed potatoes: probably some of the best mashed potatoes you'll ever have. - lobster Mac n cheese: again, not a big fish gal but the Mac itself was great and the pieces of lobster were huge! - grilled broccolini: fresh and seasoned well - meatballs: so good! I like show they had a little bit of a crisp to them - cookie dessert with ice cream (I forgot the exact name): the game changer! Warm and delicious and so fresh. Coming here is definitely an experience. I love a good experience, and that often comes with pricy items. I never mind if I feel like it's worth it! I do wish the portions were a bit bigger with what you pay. I'll for sure come back and get a steak again like my first visit! Thanks for a good night! ”
